It’s September. The days are lengthening, the daffodils are blooming and the lambs are frolicking. Fortunately it was a mild winter in the northern South Island which passed quickly. Getting out there into the forests, mountains, and wilderness trout streams is high on our agenda and we just can’t wait…
There have been no major storms or flood events to our knowledge this winter and Fish & Game Drift Dive Trout Counts last summer were some of the best for many years on local waterways.
Winter Round Up
We’ve been keeping up our outdoor skills over winter with deer-stalking, duck hunting, trout fishing, salt water fishing, rafting, fly tying, general maintenance, firewood gathering, farm visits, and fishing access track improvements.
The NZ Professional Fishing Guides Association Annual General Meeting was held in Nelson City this year and was well attended by guides throughout New Zealand. While we covered the inevitable tough issues effecting the industry, the best part is always the social interactions with good friends over fine wine and dinner.
The 2019 -2020 Guide Rate remains at NZ$900 per day for 1 or 2 anglers. This rate has been in place for 3 years. This coming season there is a two day minimum booking policy in place so we can offer our anglers the best value and experience available
Our fishing strategy is always very simple – The South Island is our playground and we go wherever the best fish are!
